Množina: New Guards
Australian right-wing paramilitary organization formed in Sydney 1931 with the philosophy of loyalty to the monarchy and the British Empire and the suppression of “disloyal” elements, particularly communists. Its clearest purpose was the overthrow of New South Wales Labor premier Jack Lang, its most famous protest being the disruption of the premier’s opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932 by Francis De Groot. After Lang’s dismissal, the New Guard’s membership declined and it ceased to exist in 1935.
